AIG Goals for Kids was created to help support local charitable organizations that serve children in need in the UK and Ireland and around the world. The program provides financial support and brings greater public attention to participating children's charities through AIG's sponsorship association with Manchester United Football Club.
For the 2006/07 season, AIG made an initial contribution of £10,000 to seven children's charities. AIG Goals for Kids then added £1,000 for each goal the Reds scored over the season.
At its launch Martin Sullivan, President and Chief Executive Officer of AIG said 'AIG is proud to support children's charities through the "AIG Goals for Kids" program with Manchester United. This program will help underprivileged children and bring attention to worthy charities through our association with one of the world's most famous sports teams."
David Gill, Chief Executive of Manchester United, added, "The combination of our 75 million fans worldwide and AIG's extensive global network means we will have no shortage of support for the children's charities benefiting from the goal-scoring efforts of the team. We commend AIG on this initiative and look forward to the goals starting to flow."
Last season's outstanding team effort saw the Red Devils score a whopping 123 goals, which netted £133,000 for the children's charities.
